Reading 2,000 applications with three people and a spreadsheet?

LOT Review is human-centred AI for application review, set up around your program's process and its privacy and security rules. It helps your team with the initial screening and the first round of review.

Personal details never go into the AI, nothing is used to train a model, your applicants' data stays yours, and the people on your team make every decision.

Proven on our own $10,000 Award: 3,454 applications, and our team made every call.

The Leaders of Today platform has been funded by Aga Khan Foundation Canada in partnership with the Government of Canada.

Your reviewers still read the applications. They start with the checks done, a score for each part of your rubric and the evidence behind it, and borderline applications are marked for a closer look.

Keep the tools you already use

Keep collecting applications where you do now. LOT Review connects directly to Award Force, Submittable, Good Grants, SurveyMonkey Apply and Google Forms, or you can upload the files.

Getting your applications in shouldn't be a project for your team. We set up the import with you.

Our story

We built it for our own Award first

In July, our $10,000 Award drew 3,454 applications. A careful first read of the finished ones would have taken about 270 hours, or seven weeks of one person working full time.

LOT Review did that first read against our rubric and showed the evidence behind every score. Our team read the shortlists and chose every winner.

Now we're offering it to other programs, one organization at a time.

Every organization gets a dedicated staff member at LOT. They work with you to set LOT Review up around your review process and train your team to use it.

During setup, we tune its instructions to your rubric and test them against your team's past decisions, checking for bias as we go, until its results come as close to yours as we can get.

Try it on last cycle's applications first

Start here

A paid pilot

Send us about 100 applications from your last cycle. We score them against your rubric and compare the results with the decisions your team actually made. You set the measures of success before we start. Results come back within two weeks of getting your data.

  • If we miss your measures, you get your money back and keep the results.
  • If you sign up within 30 days of the results, the pilot fee goes toward your setup.

Then a yearly plan

Priced by how many applications you get in a year across all your programs, plus a one-time setup fee for each program.

Every plan includes everything. Only the number of applications changes.

Questions

What is LOT Review?

LOT Review is human-centred AI for application review, made by Leaders of Today for scholarships, fellowships, awards, grants and youth programs. It checks eligibility, flags missing documents, reads transcripts and scores each application against your rubric with the evidence quoted. Your team starts its review with the first read done, and people make every decision.

Does the AI decide who gets in?

No. It does the first read, runs the checks and ranks the applications, with its reasons shown. Who moves forward is always your team's call.

What does it cost?

A fixed fee for the pilot. After that, a yearly plan sized by how many applications you get, plus a one-time setup fee per program. We bill in US dollars, or Canadian dollars for Canadian organizations, half when you sign and half when your next cycle opens.

How does the pilot work?

Send us about 100 applications from your last cycle. We score them against your rubric and compare the results with the decisions your team made, using measures of success you set before we start. Results come back within two weeks of getting your data. If we miss your measures, you get your money back and keep the results.

Which tools does it work with?

LOT Review connects directly to Award Force, Submittable, Good Grants, SurveyMonkey Apply and Google Forms, or you can upload the files. You keep collecting applications where you do now.

How do you keep applicant data safe?

Personal details come out before anything reaches the AI, and your data is never used to train AI. Every account has encryption, two-factor sign-in and access logs, and we sign a data processing agreement with you. You can export all of it, free, whenever you like.

What about bias?

You bring the rubric and it scores against that. Names and personal details are removed before scoring, and every score shows the evidence behind it, so a reviewer can check it. The pilot compares its scores with your past decisions, so you see where it agrees with your team and where it doesn't before you rely on it.

Can it tell if an applicant used AI?

It can flag writing that looks AI-generated and essays that match others in the pool. AI detection isn't reliable enough to act on alone, and it's wrong more often for people writing in a second language. So a flag means a person should take a look, and you choose whether it's on at all.

Which AI models do you use?

Models from established AI providers, on business terms that bar them from training on your data. We'll tell you which ones on the call.

Want to see it on your own applications?

Tell us about your program and we'll get back to you within one business day to set up a call.
